My 2020 TI has flat square pockets on the inboard edge of each trampoline. The pockets are very flat and about a foot square. They are midway between the forward and aft edge of each tramp and open toward the centerline of the TI.

Any idea what these are supposed to be for? Seems quite a puzzle.

My 16 has one pocket that sounds like these. I use it to stow the halyards when the sails are up. It works great for that.

I thought they were to pop the end of the paddles in, with the other end in the C-clip, when you had the trampolines fitted that then block the elastic that you normally stick the paddle ends through...

But I could be completely wrong!

I think there were some earlier ones that were set up this way, placed at the forward edge of the tramp with the opening facing aft. But mind are at the mid inside edge of the tramp with the opening facing the centerline. It may be a place to stuff the main sheet when the sail is close hauled.
