I don't know much about materials, but I wonder what effect, other than weight, having a sail made of dacron would have on a TI.
Here's the thing. I have a friend who makes sails, and puts wonderful images on them, but he can only work with dacron.
I wonder how it would affect the sailing compared to the stock sail.
Thoughts?

I'm not an expert on such things but I can't think of a reason why dacron wouldn't work on the TI. It's the battens that give the sail its necessary shape and form. As long as the sailmaker followed the same structure and layout as the original TI sail, dacron should work. The sailmaker should be able to give you a proper and expert assessment.

Dacron is an excellent and common sail material often lasting 10 years or more.

The TI sail is Dacron.
