Has anyone tried to rig a small foresail / jib to their AI or won't that work?

I want a little bowsprit and the ability to carry a small jib upwind and/or a small chute downwind. The thing I can't figure out is how all this will work up at the (spinning) top of the mast.

Hi Tom, I think it would be a slight modification to the head of the mast by adding a "wheel" type design so the mast can rotate whilst the forestay doesn't. Also the sail would have to have an opening cut at the top of the mast "pocket" and an "up-hall" be rigged so the sail doesn't pucker down. My concern was the aerodynamics and what a forestay would do to that as I notice the sail flexes allot in strong winds which changes the foil of the main sail. Also the mast is far forward and I was wondering if a foresail would throw the whole boat out of whack?! I notice there have been some pros on the site that have been testing sail designs and thought they might have tried something. Small spinnaker would be great!

I used to use a hydrofoil type kite on my sea kayak for downwind

You could sail that out in front of you
