Slaughter,

Thanks for re-posting to your topic. I had saved your pictures but then my laptop crashed. You wouldn't mind including a parts list? Please.

No probs but it will take me a couple of weeks before I will get a chance to do it. Although there isn't much more to it than you can see in the photos. I hope to also do an assembly video on it when I get a chance as well.

If it's any help, here's what I used:

2 x 2.1 metre lengths of 40mm PN12 PVC pipe.
2 x 40mm PVC Tees
2 x 6mm SS collared eyebolts
2 x 6mm SS collared eyenuts
1 x SS thimble
1 x 6mm SS nut and bolt (~2cm long)
(Optional) 4 or 8 x SS snap hooks (for the guy ropes)
Lots of polypropylene rope (or similar).
Oh, and a Hennessy Expedition camping hammock.

Thanks Chris. My list was also about the same. I didn't mean to brush you off Fly4v. It's just that I'm not able to get to my AI at the moment. Only differences off the top of my head were that I used 2 x 1.5m 40PN12 and also used 32PN9 for the fly extensions and as a stiffener up the centre. Used a couple of pipe caps as well and 4 x SS snap clips like in the photo.

Best of luck with it Fly4v.

@Fred. I'm not sure if you've trolled through all the pages in this thread, but here is what it looks like when set up:

@Alan. I tried to find ways to integrate the mast, but it just ended up making things more complex. I'm always open to suggestions, but this design is tested in the field and works fine.

Very cool, it looks bomber, the PVC obviously works or you'd be one wet puppy.
The link I gave you was for sleeping on a vertical (or beyond cliff). It comes in at 11 lbs so it's not exactly featherweight. Yet, the basics are alum rods and copper 45's. if you get rid of all the webbing and use lightweight materials you could shave it down to 1/2 of that at least. The main advantage is that you could hang it off the mast without the hardware on the stern and bow on 4 pieces of webbing and a few carabiners.

Having a Pyramid shelter made is cheap or buy it off the manufacturer.
As I said, It's just another way to get some rest...
And in the end, that really matters, imho
Regards
Fred

I think you meant trawled as in catching fish as opposed to trolled.
I have never trolled as I`m sure you haven`t either, due to lack of purpose.

I don't fish Fred, but I believe trolling is a fishing practice too:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trolling_(fishing)
The fishermen on this forum are always talking about it.

Hmmm, I just discovered it also means "a slang term for gay men who wander about looking for sexual partners"

That's definitely not what I meant. :?

Disclaimer: I fully support the right of members of this forum, whatever their sexual orientation, to engage in trolling in any context they see fit.

Chrisj
You owe me a huge apology!
What the feck is your issue...
8 months ago, my wife died from liver cancer and a cardiac arrest. I'm still trying to get to grips with it.
How dare you to accuse me of homosexuality when all I did was to approve your method of going to sleep opposed to my method of trying to find a way to suspend the bed on a single anchor..
Having had issues with Josh the Dick, I'm getting the message that most Aussies are true A@@holes.
Consider yourself as one of them.
Feck off. Dude
You really need to sober up and send me email in private if you have issues
If you want a public sheit fest, bring it on.
(wtf, chris, I thought there was a common line of respect from a guy that has sailed for over 40 years to you that has obviously been there for a few years)

Chrisj
I have no idea why you would consider a dual portaledge as a means to practise the gay lifestyle.
As you obviously have no idea of what the vertical lifestyle is all about, may I mention that high level rock climbing is very much about trust as your partner holds your life in their ability to belay you....
Why am I talking to you, you are obviously ignorant or you would not have posted that idiotic diatribe about 'trolling'
Look chris, if you have gay needs, fine.
Sorry, I'm not interested.
Really

Onya Fred, you are a piece of work. :x

I think he's the one owed an apology.

I have a lot of respect for ChrisJ and your posts are very wrong.

Goodness Fred, I'm sorry if I gave you the wrong impression. I looked up the word "trolling" on Wikipedia, to confirm it was a type of fishing. I noticed that it was also a bit of gay slang and commented that that was not what I meant. What more can I say?

WHAT LEIPO and CGM SAID! :x
How you misunderstood what Chrisj said is beyond me, unless.... for some reason you are not thinking clearly. :?

Slaughter, didn't think you did, to use my favorite term from your land "No worries!"

I will need luck... cant get away with a straight copy... crossbars on 2011 are a bit different. I will use the double pipe system to carry the weight. Thanks for the additional parts to round out the list.

So what will eat me first... bear for being close to shore, gator for being in the shallows, or shark for just being on the water?
