SailYakkin from the Hood Canal Bridge to Seabeck Wa.
10-15 Mph Winds.
Sailing on a Beam Reach all the way.
Average speed 6Mph Max Speed 9.something.
20 miles in 3.5 hrs.
Kinda concerned about the bow being underwater so much
Very wet ride but no problems in a Drysuit.
Beautiful day on the Hood Canal.
Lost rudder control 3 or 4 times had to reef the sail to get control.
Was run out of restricted waters by the base security at Bangor Sub base.
Nice guys verry serious though.

Enjoyed your video. Well put together. The bow did seem to stay under water a fair bit. Could it have been due to a following swell? How much weight was in the forward part of the hull?

I noticed my bow popped up faster after I moved some weight aft.

Nice vid, and looked like a fun trip. Two questions though...

How much water did you have inside the hull when you were done?

What weight did you move aft? Were you packed for a stay, or was someone picking you up?

OK, I guess that's three questions.

Happy Sailing,

Hello and thanks for the interest.

I did not have anything in the front of the boat except my sandals.
I was on a beam reach most of the way and that could have pushed the front of the boat down.
the only weight besides me (200 lbs) was in my equipment box behind me (30 lbs).

I was just day sailing so I only had basics.
The torqeedo and with extra batteries would not weigh much.
There was only about a quart of water in the boat at the finish.

I did have a great time I was moving fast.
And I did get run out of restricted waters off of the bangor sub base.
Two homeland security types. One was very strict the other oogled my boat.
they stopped me and told me to go outside some buoys .
when I pulled my sail out to leave I took off at about 9 Mph.
Must have surprised them.
Hell it surprised me.
My friend dropped me off at the Hood Canal Bridge and fished me out at Seabeck.
I am trying to go all the way around Kitsap county.
I hope I can get in more of these one way trips.
