Post subject:  What happened to my post?

I just typed up a very long post. It took 3 hours to write up and when I submitted it, poof, I don't know where it went? Any one know where I can look to find it?

When logged in go to the upper right hand side and click the link "View Your Post" Just beneath the current date and time. If its not there, then poof its probably gone. If it took 3hrs then the system probably timed you out. Long post should be done in a seperate document, then copy and pasted in. Just my experience from doing online resumes. You can also go to the user control panel and see if it is in saved drafts.

Thank you Sammie 925,
I did try that and no luck. I re-constructed my post. It only took 2hrs this time! I did save it this time, and when I submitted it, it disappreared again. So I'll try submitting it again. It could be I took to long in putting it together. Wish me luck.
Thanks again.

May have saved as a draft instead of posting... I have done that a few times. Go to the upper right "User Control Panel" and then left side menu "Manage Drafts".

I have found that after you hit submit you need to wait until your message appears before your eyes. If you don't wait and hit another button "poof" your message disappears.

Ignore the message that says your message was posted successfully.

FYI... I see multiple "delete topic" s from your user name in the moderation log.

Fly'n C Lion, maybe it would help to split it into several consecutive posts?

Fly'n C Lion,
If your computer loses its connection, as mine does frequently, you usually lose whatever you have been posting.
I have found it safer for long posts to use Word and keep saving the doc. Then it's just a simple copy and paste into the forum when you are finished.
I always right click, 'select all' text and copy just before I hit the submit button. That way if it doesn't go through because of connection problems it's easy to re-send. :)

Post subject:  Re: What happened to my post?

Thank you everyone for your ideas.
Stringy, next time I will use word. Thank you for that idea. I'm pretty sure I just took too long in the making of my post. I used photobucket and after I had highlighted the photo jpgs, I then went up and clicked on Img, I posted it on the forum and only the photo adresses showed up. So I deleted it and thought about it and after quite a while I realized I shouldn't be doing going up and clicking on the Img button. So I re-did my photos without clicking on the Img button, and it worked, but then when I posted it, I realized I forgot a photo in the post. So I saved the post in my emal folder, and re-did the post and when I re-submitted it, no photos showed up in the forum, only the long photo address, sooooo I went in and just deleted the old photo address and put fresh ones on as quickly as I could (which were actually the same exact addresses) and submitted it and it worked! (That's the reason why you saw multiple deletes in my log mmiller) Captain Max, I think my next post will be a bit longer than this one,so I'm thinking I will split it. And dosjers, I will be more patient next post. Thank you all again for your help. As you can see, I finally got it posted. :D (It was a loooong day!)

Stringy and others are right. For a post that takes more then a few minutes, it is best to do it in WORD, then copy and paste it into the forum message box. Word also checks my spelling so I don't look like an idiot in front of all my knowledgeable cyber freinds.

Just for the record, if you are using Firefox, Chrome or Safari for your browser, you can set them to check your spelling as you type. Dunno about Internet Explorer - maybe it can do it too.

chrisj,

Thank you so much. I didn't know Firefox would check spelling.

You just saved me a lot of time.

You spelled "friends" wrong. :) Sorry, couldn't resist.

Augaug! That was a joke! Now, I can't really complain that you missed it because I showed it to my wife, and SHE didn't get it. I guess my jokes are just too subtle.

Us Canadians are MUCH too serious to be joking around all the time.

I hope we're still freinds! :)
