Recently spent a week down at Cape Conran in Victoria. Went last year and cursed myself for not taking the AI so this year I decided to take it regardless. Didn't get much wind so the Mirage drive got a bit of a workout.

West Cape boat ramp. No waves but a little swell.

Beautiful shots as usual CGM. There's a professional photographer called David Oliver in Pennant Hills. No relation?

Thanks Chris. No relation. He's the one that gets paid the $$$$$ for taking pics. I'm the one that dreams of getting paid $$$$$ for taking them... :D

How nice are your shots mate. What a spot. Very impressive.

Your time lapse looks so good in 1080HD. ? How'd ya do it ?

I just dropped some acid and watched your Opera House clip.

Has everyone seen what our Cows can do with time lapse ??

Thanks!
I sat too long in the dark!
Best to use a DSLR with reasonable high ISO and wide fast lens (f2.8). I used a automatic trigger (intervalometer) set to take a 30sec exposure then wait 2 sec, then take another 30 sec shot and so on. Then it's a matter of sitting there in the dark for somewhere between 3 - 4 hours letting the camera do it's thing.
Once finished import all the frames into software (e.g. Virtualdub) and export out as a AVI. After you get a few together edit into a movie and add a soundtrack.
Well, there's a few tricks and tips extra but that's the jist of it.
Big tip is to plan the light levels for the entire period you're taking shots. Big difference between dark skies and moonlight. In fact the light you can see creeping up the rocks in the second section of the Conran TL is from the near full moon rising over the headland behind me.
If anyone want more info let me know.

Thanks for the rundown. And the shooting star was right on queue. What a bonus.

Perhaps we can discuss it more on the Lake Maquarie trip on the 11th ?? The invite by Dave has just been posted.
