I think there are a few members here from the clearwater / Dunedin area. If like to camp on the spoil Islands but I can't find much info permits that might be needed or Islands that can our cannot be camped on.

No permits needed on the spoil islands around Dunedin. Only time you need a permit that I'm aware of is for Anclote key which has a designated primitive camping area on the northwest side of the island. Not sure if camping on Three Rooker is allowed ... never seen any tents out there overnight.
