Hello,

I have now completed several channel crossings to Catalina, Anacapa, and Santa Cruz Islands from the nearest respective harbors. I am curious if those who have done similar crossings have successfully installed waterproof AIS systems (e.g., Vesper Marine AIS Watchmate 850 Transponder) for crossing shipping lanes and/or means of obtaining off-shore, local forecasts (e.g., using inReach Explorer through Iridium network or weather fax systems).

I have MARINE TRAFFIC App on my IPhone.
I haven't used it on the water yet.
