Hi everybody. I bought Hobie AI (selling a Laser) because I like long distance expeditions. After many one day trips finally i did.
I'd like to share with yout this experience in a youtube videoclip (20 minutes).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cYYbPnjPwIU

Unfortunately there arent' many boats like this in Sardinia therefore i sailed with a wayfarer dinghy experiencing the big differences between these two boats, expecially when sailing upwind.

Beautiful. What a place to live!

What does your boats name Stelute mean?

thanx. Stelute means "little star" in "furlan" a dying local language of a region in north east of Italy.

this was the first "long distance" expedition for me. before i just did "one day trip". though i installed "safety lines" i was a little worried about the resistance of my boat for such an intensive use. especially the mirage drive that i really used a lot because the many moments of no-wind.
another characteristic of this journey was the comparison with the wayfarer dinghy with my 2 friends. the result is that we rarely were close to each other, they could point much the wind when sailing upwind and in this situation i lost a long distance from them. in fact having to sail with a wider angle sometimes i found the cost on my way and it mean much more tacking.
with a broad reach or downind they were faster but not so much.
but the good point for me was that we passed close a wonderful coast with cliffs, caves, rocks and crystal water. i could go at few feet from the cliffs while they were sailing at long distance.

i honestly would like to change the AI with a tandem island but in italy the market od used boat is pratically zero and the pricing politics of Hobie with the last models is a disaster.
I am also thinking to buy a spi kit.

SI, great trip. Excellent video! Beautiful waters, even if you had to pedal a lot. Thanks for posting!
