very very clean what kind if a jib furler do you use. would running backstays help with jib luff tension and allow you to sail in stronger winds
The jib furler is a Ronstan RF76, 65mm (2 1/2") dia. Enclosed Drum
St/St ball bearing swivel unit. Fork & fork take-off with 6.4mm (1/4") dia. Pins. Overall height 80mm (3 1/8")
Specifications
Breaking Load: 1700 kg
Weight: 155 g
Applications
Small dinghies and catamarans.
Materials
Acetal drum
Stainless steel swivel
You will also need to purchase the RF78B SS Swivel for the top of the Jib to assit with the furling, it all works a treat BUT just watch the components of the furler, has some potential to loosen a locking screw and split pin.
As for running back stays i think i have gone far enough myself but would be happy to hear of others trying - once i upgrade to 1/4 inch rod the strength should be there to use the halyard tension to reduce luffing.
Cheers!
