The rear "bubble" hatch would look cool, but would also restrict volume, severely limiting load capacity and versatility.

Hey RR,
You're absolutely right...if you have the hatch cover on. For that reason, I wouldn't recommend it for the AI. But for a Tandem with a front cockpit configured to serve also as a second cargo area, I think, for many, a "bubbled" hatch aft would be a great seller...if just for the looks. Assuming the width of a Tandem is increased, if only slightly, the opening of a longer, wider "bubbled" hatch shouldn't restrict much of anything.

RR, you'd laugh your butt off if you saw Chekika and me heading out for a 7-day fishing/camping trip in the Everglades "lookin like Beverly Hillbillys gone fishin--it ain't purdy". I carry an Igloo 50 qt cooler, table, chair, sunscreen tent, plus camping tent & gear, fishing gear, clothes, food, water, electronics, etc. We sure don't want to give up load capacity or versatility. At the same time, I worry that length/width/weight might get too a point too difficult for us old guys to handle, transport, and store in the garage easily. :(

I'm sure with your usual good input the best decisions will be made. Thanks again for all the assistance you provide in this forum.

Actually I wouldn't want to do any of those thing at sea, or launching through surf to get there.

The wind was good today so I headed out with my wife to try out my new tramps. I normally use a seat in the back of my AI for my wife (sitting back to back) but today she was on a Tramp next to me the whole time and loved it. The AI rode much nicer too because the weight was more distributed to the middle. When she was on the windward side performance was enhanced because the ama didn't drag in the water as much. It was great and more enjoyable when you can see each other. It really added to the Adventure island experience.

A few times I crawled out onto the other tramp and I could see the advantage of a rudder extension tiller. These tramps are well engineered just like the adventure island itself. Thanks Hobie. Your company has some talented and creative people.

Maybe we are jumping the gun here in desiring something we already what with the addition of trampolines as per FloridaRobot's testamonial.....Pirate

:D Hurray for Tramps! They're a great addition, especially for expedition sailors.

Expanding utility a little further leads you to consider the extra distance you'll have between the tandem xbars. It should allow enough length for onboard overnight camping...or uhhh, otherthings. PVC tube holes at xbar corners and gunwale midpoints, could hold a tent frame, sunscreen, or other gear and accessories. Wouldn't that be great!!!
