Pirate - as you have a very close and special relationship with Richard, I would expect that Alpine Country will fit yours for you
I thought you would have yours by now
I reckon we should practice on whoever gets theirs first

I remember that a couple of people ( Wile-e-kayak and Gringo) fitted the new rudder using the old lines and without 'cluttering' the rear hatch.

Is that still holding up and has there been any problems?

anybody else tried it and taken pictures or got detailed instructions?

Matt would that affect the warranty i.e. using the old lines?

I like to use my storage box in the rear hatch. When my new rudder arrived for the AI I decided to use some of the old hadrware. I used the new lines with the old tubes. It was a little challenging because the knots end up under the deck forward of the hatch. I have been using this system sucessfully for several months under some challenging situation. I only had to go back once to tighten the lines at the rudder once they went through the initial strech. Sorry, did not take any pictures.

I'm with Dogslife, it has been great. I do need to tighten up some slack, otherwise very nice and worth it. On my buddy's tandem we did have to go farther up the hull to create more length on the orginal lines. Where the knots land are critical as we initially kept not allowing the rudder to fully swing up and/or down. Still say it is a two person, two beer program. One catches what the other misses...

I wanted to transport my TI, with the swing-up rudder, using the bungee strap that came with the new rudder to hold the rudder in the reverse upright position.
However, Hobie stated that the rudder should be disconnected and strapped down when transporting. However, the new Fall, 2011 parts catalog shows a red cover bag which slips over the rudder and uses a clip-on bungee cord to hold the rudder upright! So can we use the provided bungee strap for transport? Does the bag provide that much more security when traveling?

Looks like a question for Matt Miller........

The strap and cord provided is for transport rudder up. Cover does the same. You can un-pin and shock cord to the deck as an option... not a requirement.

Is there a way that TI owners can check to see whether a replacement rudder has been ordered.

I have not received one as yet, but I am hopeful that it has been ordered?
