Can someone tell me the length and weight of the each amas on the AI? I did tried researching, but couldn't find it anywhere. I assume the amas are different in size on the AI than the TI. I own an TI and was also considering an AI but wanted some more specs on the AI. Thanks. |

8 feet long (vs 13 feet 4 inches for the TI) The AI ama are slightly smaller diameter too Feels about half the weight each, but I don't have actual weights. |

Thanks KayakingBob. The length is more important anyways and thanks for giving me that. Maybe it's too tiny, but I wonder how many people ever flipped one? |

After +5 years of sails, I finally flipped one, but it was on a launch and only because of breaking a rudder pin and rolling it in the surf. I had it flipped back in seconds and paddled out of the surf zone to replaced the pin and continue my sail. It was great fun (after it was all over)! |

We're just kiddin, Hullman. They are not bad. Just "too tiny" for some, as in limited floatation and stability. For a little fun, and a better idea of what I mean, check out the "batboat". http://www.hobiecat.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=69&t=33992&start=0&hilit=hapa Rarely happens, but anyone can flip these boats in a flash, if they break an Aka brace, or forget to connect one.  You'll acheive better street cred if you roll one in the surf though,.. right Bob?

I just contacted Hobie, they said "7ft long x 6 x 8 (hard to measure this exact as they have rocker in them) 15lbs each " --Jacques Bernier I'm trying to get some shipped to me from ebay seller...the above dimensions will fit into the UPS/FedEx calculation tool, but the seller is now stating they are too big for UPS. hmm, the seller may be SOL. Last time I checked, those planes and brown trucks are > 7' long.... |

108 inches was the previous maximum length. Unless they've changed that, you should be okay. |
