Post subject:  Separating amas from hull while trailering TI?

I have Hobie Trailer cradles to support my TI while trailering. Unfortunately,
the amas touch the hull when they rest as designed on the cradles. The inboard contact points are starting to wear the amas against the hull as the rig vibrates during hauling. I have tried to separate the amas from the hull with thin marine carpet strips and rubber strips, but they both catch road dust/dirt. They consequently become an abrasion surface themselves.
Any hints on how to protect the rig from rubbing?

I cut "calamari" loops from the thighs of an old wetsuit (freebie from my local dive shop) which I wedge between the amas and hull before tightening down the straps. If they get grubby, I wash them when launching. Seems to work a treat.

You can see them hanging in this shot

I understand exactly what you're describing and I wish I had put these Velco strips on the sides of my hull when my boat was new. The same kind of rubbing wear can also occur in the water if you have your Amas folded in; like at anchor or dockside etc.

I'm not quite sure what material you could use that wouldn't attract some kind of dirt and yet still act as a good separator between these two surfaces. Prior to using the Velcro strips, I experimented with foam, but discovered that it too was abrasive. Scraps of rug seemed to work well, but looked kind of crummy and were always getting lost.

Pictured below is the 2 in. Ultra-Mate Industrial Heavy Duty Sticky Back Velcro Tape (using the soft side out) that seems to be working the best so far. It's been on my boat for over a year now with no signs of peeling off. That's what I recommend.

This is how I installed it on a friends TI.

Post subject:  Velcro...

Thanks Sun E Sailor...great idea...
but I think I am going to use the other part of the Velcro Tape.
I have used Velcro quite a bit and found that the 'soft' loop surface tends to collect dirt like a carpet. The 'hook' surface tends to wash clean a lot better.
So I am going to try the hook side first...but keep the loop part in case I need to switch.
