On a recent outing with my AI, I lost the daggerboard. After looking at the price to replace it, I was wondering if I should. How much does it enhance performance? Thanks, Chris |

If you want to make any headway upwind you need the daggerboard - going purely downwind you could go without it, but for sure you will miss the performance of having the daggerboard deployed if trying to make any upwind headway - that's for sure. |

Chris, the dagger is critical and needs to be leashed at all times. Same goes with the mirage drive. Without leashes, all our stuff will eventually get pulled overboard by that big gear magnet at the bottom of the sea. That said, a spare dagger and drive are handy things to own, maybe even mandatory if you like to do long runs or camping trips. I'm putting my $ where my is and ordering a spare dagger today. |

When you use the AI's daggerboard, the bungee is ment to go through the plastic eye like this: So, I just add a carabiner on the bungee AFTER the plastic eye so it can't come out and get lost. Also, I make a simple daggerboard holder with a piece of 1 inch strapping and a SS bolt to hold it when not deployed. |

Thanks for the info guys, I guess I will call my dealer and see if they have an extra in stock. All of the equipment is leashed when on the water. My trunk popped open and I think it jumped out. I have looked everywhere else, and still hopeful it will turn up. I liked the pic showing how to store the board out of the way. I need to find a similar way to get the mirage drive out of the way when not in use. On my sport, I run a bungee cord from the bow to the sail mount and just tuck it under. Thanks |
