Have had a friend (bloke? mate?) over from down under for a week and since he's come all this way I would be remiss if I didn't take him out sailing in the TI. He said he's always "wanted to have a crack at sailing" so we plan to hit the water tomorrow. It will be cold - upper 30's for the high and double digit winds but we plan to "have a go" regardless. Would prefer a bit more warmth but no way I'll let him leave without treating him to a bit of Hobie sailing. My goal is have him "chuffed" enough about the whole thing that when he returns down under he'll order himself a TI or an AI. We'll see. I'll try and take a movie or two. |

Contrary to the forecast, winds were very light so not much excitement. But, Col did get a bit of a sticky beak while I was setting up the boat and once on the water he took to it like a sea gull after a hot chip. I guess this means he was interested in the boat and had a good time, but I can't be sure. He did get to handle the sheet a few times in some strong but brief gusts and was chuffed at how powerful the wind pushing against a sail can be. Col lives a bit below Sidney and I told him I'd try to put him in touch with some of his countrymen that had TI's in case he wanted to try it again once he got home. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BD5C8my1 ... e=youtu.be |

Col is from Port Kembla, NSW. I believe that is just a bit below Sidney, maybe 100 miles? Col is a die hard fisherman and I'd love to put him touch with any Hobie kayak people in that same area. He's a power boat buy but he very much enjoyed the TI. |
