Just curious if front Xbar forward Assembly with cracks is warranty related issue or considered wear and tear item. I may try to a have a friend weld but not sure it will hold. I have Gorilla taped xbar around crack to keep pressure on end some. I may try to sail it tomorrow if I get the chance with Gorilla tape. It looks like part number is 79531201. Image ImageImageImage I have a new front Xbar coming after talking with dealer.

I didn't know Hobie made Islands in LEMON!   I think it is about time that Hobie looked at seriously fixing you up, as that boat doesn't look fit for purpose to me..

I am amazed at how bad the condition is of the boat the Hobie dealer sold you Kingquad. This is a really bad reflection on the fine Hobie brand. Most Hobie dealers will sell demo boats because they need to demonstrate the product to potential customers before they buy and some wear and tear on the hull is unavoidable. I also purchased a demo TI from my local Hobie dealer a few weeks ago and I can assure you that the Hobie dealer went to great lengths to ensure this boat was in proper seaworthy condition and that although it was sold as a demo it still has a new boat warranty. Mine had some usage scratches on the hull and amas too but the rest of the boat was in as new condition. I got a discount for the demo wear and tear too. a crack in the xbar should not be considered wear and tear. In all the hundreds of posts that I have read on the forum I am yet to hear of someone having to replace a cracked xbar as normal maintenance and it certainly would not be worn out on a boat that is so young - that is either a manufacturing fault or damage - either way your Hobie dealer should be falling over themselves to fix it. That is a major problem if it fails while you are out at sea. You also mentioned a torn sail? that significantly weakens the seaworthiness of the boat and should not be sold like that. I truly hope that Hobie Company steps up and provides you with the support you need to get this boat into seaworthy condition. All my dealings with Hobie so far have been nothing short of top quality in every respect.
I would suggest that you lodge a warranty claim direct with Hobie and let them know the condition of the boat you were sold at the same time.

good luck Kingquad

This isn't Hobie's doing. The dealer sold you a boat that had been used hard and put up wet (no pun intended). Hobie might choose to interceded with the dealer on your behalf, but it should really be on the dealer to make a few things right or adjust the selling price. Obviously, this isn't a new boat and I have to ask - did you look at this boat before you bought it?

Beyond that, if the cracks were caused by someone running the Ama/s into something, then it's not a defect. The photo you attached, which is a little hard to see at that size, looks like the Aka cross piece cracks are the result of abuse. If that is the case, then I don't think it would covered under the Hobie warranty. Of course, the only entity that can answer that is Hobie.

I agree Tom, and I apologise if my comments looked like a slight at Hobie. The dealer must take full responsibility for the shocking condition of this boat, and I would expect Hobie's contribution to this issue would be the launching of an ICBM in the direction of a dealer who seems to be hellbent on damaging the brand.

Hobie cat have replied to others threads also started by Kingquad7686
Each time trying to have him speak with his dealer - any issue will be resolved. They tried reaching out to him directly with no luck in contacting him.

It is fine to post on the forum - and get feedback, but anything that needs to be repaired or replaced will be handled by a dealer (any dealer can get replacement parts no his purchasing shop - so he can choose to visit his nearest shop). We just need a dealer to submit a claim to get a replacement crossbar shipped out.

As we always say - if you need anything for your Hobie kayak - contact a dealer first - they are the starting point.

User feedback on forums is always helpful - but in the end it doesn't fix an issue - the dealer will. link: http://www.hobiecat.com/dealers/
