Post subject:  in dash depth finder

I am thinking about mounting an in-dash Depth finder (the flush round ones) on my AI. Has anyone done this set up before on their Hobie?

I fish out of my Outback (about to change now that My AI has arrived) and find that I usually utilize my FF for depth readings (avoiding the shallows), rather than locating fish. Got me thinking that I would only require an in-dash depth finder for the AI, thus keeping the deck a little less cluttered.

I do not have any experience with these.

Appreciate any advice/links!!

In the future, when you change hulls (upgrade?) this will leave a big hole in this hull unless you sell/give the Depth finder with the hull. This will either drop the resale value or increase how much you would need to sell it for, substantially.

After the convincing it took to allow me to keep the Outback and purchase the AI, I don’t think I’ll ever be allowed to get rid of it.

Then start cutting! :)

I've always liked the look of the "in dash" compass installs on an AI.

Good luck.

Careful. There is not much room between the dash and mast support.
