I find it hard to believe that Hobie is branching out into the family planning market

Tony:
No Hobie just realizes many of us old timers are full of crap, and they just want to help(lol).

To be honest I only have a TI and have never ridden in an AI. With spray skirts on my TI it is actually a very dry ride. I do have a 1 inch foam pad under my seat that keeps me dry and comfy( the Hobie seats are very hard).
So if in an AI you are always sitting in water, that would be on my list as well. I'm pretty happy with the TI seats though.

Just shows you what a truly smart a company Hobie is; they convince you to purchase a wet boat - and then sell you wetsuits and turkey basters.

Hey wait a minute, they stole Tom's idea! Not cool :(

Well I guess that is another way to increase the long-term market base!

Will the colors also be the same for the 2014 TI's?

Thanks,

There really is no reason to wait, my experience has been that upgrades are frequently back fitted for earlier versions, like the rudder raise/lower mod, from levers to the T handle, Hobie shipped the kit to me free of charge.

Thanks,

I reckon that they have already locked in the choices:- Hibiscus, new red, papaya and dune.

Colors are more vibrant. So red is now RED! A few tweaks to make things easier on the sailor but nothing huge

Are there any changes to the Mirage Drive itself or is it he same as 2013?

Yes that was item #3 on Tony's list ( .), ( humor).

I assume the mirage drive is a pretty mature design by now, so I wouldn't expect any addional changes, I've been using them since 2007 pretty much every weekend and have never had any problems besides the occasional bent post or torn fin, which are all easily repaired. I very seldom remove my mirage drive when shoring, or even sometimes when I run class 2 rapids, I just lock them against the hull. Yes they get all scratched up but as long as you keep them clean and lubricated, they seem to last almost forever. As long as you don't rest both feet on the pedals when reeling in big fish you should never have any problems. And if anything does break, it is easily repaired. I'm a product designer, and think their design is near perfection ( my opinion)

I believe the Mirage Drive has undergone a housing change. It is a bit shorter in height both fore and aft and now has a molded in splash shield in the center portion. Operationally it's pretty much the same.

I think they are terrific "machines." I've been using and abusing these drives since 2005 and have had very few issues! I was just wondering if there are any changes before I order a 2014 AI.
