I'm interested in adding the Davis Spar Fly to my TI mast. Has anyone successfully mounted one ? Is there enough space at the top of the mast (above the sail) to mount the quick release mount ? Is it OK to drill the small mounting holes into the mast without compromising the carbon fiber ?

thanx,
bill

I don't have that particular item, but my wind indicator has a similar mounting requirement. If you have the Hobie spinnaker kit, simply remove the base and zip-tie the vertical rod to the little stubby rod on the mast-rotator.

If you don't, you can easily attach a small piece of pvc plumbing pipe with a single screw over the top of the sail, and add in a small plastic tube into which you can insert the rod of the Spar. The photo says it best.
