Hello,

I have read most forum entries for straightening a bent MirageDrive rod/mast. Some propose using heat. Others propose simply bending while still attached to the drive. Still others recommend removing the rod from the drive. I have removed the bent rod from the drive (threaded rod end with brass insert). I inserted the threaded rod end into a slightly over-sized hole in the edge of a 2x4. I slid a small diameter pipe over the long end of the rod and applied pressure. It took more pressure than I expected. Some of the bend still remains. Can someone provide specifics on the use of a vise and/or heat to straighten the bend. Any help is greatly appreciated. :(

Dan, I have read everywhere that in the case of the rod "near enough is good enough", in that moderate remaining bends will not materially affect the operation of the Miragedrive. One of my drives still has visual "waves" in it, but has worked perfectly just like that for over a year.
