Excellent movie Thomas especially for your first movie.
What a lovely place to sail and camp.
Cheers,
Brian in South Australia.

Thanks for that Thomas. That's exactly what I like about trip reports and videos. We all get to see completely different sailing environments. My 1st question is camping. Can you camp anywhere or are there restrictions ? It looks like such an amazing spot to be spending a few days. Is there any chance in supplying us with a map or location of where exactly you are ?

Another thing, I just noticed that your mast doesn't seem to be furling as easily as it should. May be OK and was just the lack of wind but can you check the top surface of the mast retaining plate on the cross brace to see if you have any rubbing. A number of us have had this issue and it can be easily resolved if it's addressed early.

This isn't a great photo but you can see the scoring on the top surface. There should be a slight gap between that plate and the bottom surface of the mast furling drum.

Excellent video by the way. Keep 'em coming.

Nice video, Thomas. As Slaughter said a map showing where you were would be great!

Very nice, Thomas!

The archipelagos around Stockholm are probably the most wonderful place in the world to be sailing a Hobie Island when the weather is good. There are endless numbers of islands and islets and you will find plenty of places where you can camp for free, especially when you're not very close to the city. Personally I however sleep on board.

The plentitude of islands is as far as I understand a result of the ice age. The land is still rising about 0,4 cm a year, so much of the land was well under water a thousand years ago. The big lake Mälaren to the west of Stockholm was part of the baltic sea some 700 or 800 years ago, but has since turned from salt to sweet water.

Here you can read about the archipelago to the east of Stockholm: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stockholm_archipelago

First of all.
THANK YOU ALL FOR THE ENCOURAGEMENT!
(I thought the video was rather simple compared to what you all do better.)

@Slaughter
Thank you for pointing out that I may have a problem. I checked the top surface of the mast retaining plate and I have some scoring here. But not the full circle only a quarter of it. Will check it tomorrow. Will have questions about how to fix it.
And yes there are some camping restrictions.
If it is a protected area like bird protection, seal protection, military area or national park with special rules.
But generally you can allways camp one night. And if you are out of frequented areas, some nights.

I will come back with a map son as I have figured out how to do it best. (meaning: at all... )
Until that, look at Hobie Crafte's link and look for Söderarm on the map.
Last summer I was out to Svenska Högarna (also on the same map).

Yep, that worked good. Bloody hell, don't get lost, what a maze....... what a backyard.

If there is only slight scoring Thomas, you could stuff a small thin plug into the hole in the bottom of the mast. When I say plug, more like a shim cut out from a hard slippery PVC with a drop of silicon glue. Play with the thicknesses but it may only need to be 2mm thick.
