Very stealthy. In fact, the whole boat has "disappeared".

Story was pulled, mysteriously.

I think it might be nautical sensitivity.
No one likes to read that someone wrote that their kayak looks heavy.
That's like someone saying that the tramps make the stern look fat. :D

I didn't see the "she's fat" section of that article. I think it probably has more to do with the fact that Hobie doesn't even want to release the specs until Sept. 1st so they asked "nicely" to have it removed.

Or they got offended and sicked their lawyers.

I'm sure Hobie has all kinds of fanfare lined up for the release of the 2015 line of adventure boats. I'm sure they have the marching bands, parade routes, and macys balloons all reserved. If everyone already knows what is coming out it would spoil the fanfare and nobody would show up at the release party. I've always been a huge fan of Hobies kayak lines, and they keep getting better all the time. When they came out with the TI in 2010 from my eyes and lifestyle this seem like the perfect family boat for us (basically replacing both our kayaks and our powerboats as the ultimate SUV on the water that you can use for anything imaginable and believe me I can imagine a lot (lol).
My opinion is they totally invented a totally new class of boats with purpose and a totally new following of people never tapped before.
Personally I'm very excited to see what the new TI will have as far as features go and anxiously await it's arrival. I'm sure they know my list of desirable features by now and have my fingers crossed.
I consider next month to be the culmination of a deliberate plan by Hobie that started ten years ago by releasing a line of kayaks designed from the ground up as pedal powered ultimate sailing machines (every mirage kayak is designed from the ground up to sail). Pretty much every kayaker I have talked to puts the TI on the top of there want to have list as the ultimate solution to our lifestyle.
I'm just going by my own first hand experience and talking to other kayakers and kayak fishermen who stop by and talk to me pretty much every time I'm out on the water.
I get a similar reaction from power boaters (who can't afford them anymore). However I don't get any reaction at all from traditional sailers (monohull, laser and sunfish sailers, cat sailers, etc), actually I get the impression they look down on our boats (it's just a kayak (lol)).
So even though I pretty much know what is coming I will be sure to act surprised when September finally arrives, I'll watch the parade in September (as long as they throw candy (lol)) and act excited.
Bottom line Hobie created this monster market from nothing, now they have to feed it.

"candy" being the larger sail, larger amas, etc.? I'm hoping for some of the same "candy" on the TI.

So now Hobie is the Apple of kayaks?

Looks like they got rid of the handles entirely.[/quote]

Good spotting Hogman. Never noticed that. I use these handles all the time. It's a 'must have' to do a 1 person lift of the hull isn't it ???

As the AI moves further away from being a kayak and more towards a "boat," they may have decided that fewer and fewer will be car topping the boat or using it as a stand along kayak, so, handles were tossed. Not sure, but that'd be my guess.

Or in their rush to get the boat out in time for the show someone could have just forgot to add them. Or maybe they don't add the handles until they have tried it out a while, then determine the most convenient location. I'm sure there will be a ton of sea trials and last minute tweaks based on real testing by staff an Hobie testers before the first units actually ship to real customers in December/January timeframe. That would be my guess anyway.

I would think the indents for the handles would have to be there as they'd be part of the mold - unless they're just going to be screwed onto the outside of the hull. But again, we're all just speculating until the actual boats show up at the dealers.

WELL, I TOLD YOU GUYS NOT TO GRUMBLE ABOUT THOSE LEAKY HANDLES!! Simplest design fix of all, (erase them).

They may be planning to just screw the handles to the gunwales or the inside of the hull, like the outback, but it's hard to envision with this poor video.

Requiring that you a trailer? Also a brilliant design move.

I just find it convenient using the handle to pull the hull sideways off the trailer whilst in the garage.
I mean, this is a big world issue sitting somewhere in between the Iraq conflict and finding MH17.

Nohuhu, in order to ensure that a sentence is easy to understand, it is imperative that you do not any words out.
