I suggest two "Davis" type Wind-tels (no relation). http://www.davisnet.com/productpics/big/01260.jpg One on each fwd aka near the bend. Stick them up about 6" above the tube. I use one on my mast top on my Triak, but you are right...it is easier to look forward and not so high. The supplied wire might not be long enough, but you can easily saddle the tube with a couple lines and wrap the tels around the line. |

Ti-tom: Nothing to envy, I spent most of my life up north, we would cram as much activity into the summer apreciating that time greatly. Down here all that is taken for grandit (endless good weather) so I think most people do much less here because there is always tomorrow (apathy), at least thats my observation. FE |

i am really new to sailing, and i was wondering with this new sail, can it only be used on one side of the boat or can it be swapped side to side when deployed, or is this only for dead down wind and maybe it don't matter what side its on? thanks |

All headsails have two sheets, so they can be flown on either side. You simply loosen the old sheet and tighten the new one after you have turned. A reacher by definition works from side-on to the wind through downwind to side-on travelling in the opposite direction. |

So, one would think this far into it, Hobie should have a really good idea of the cost... any rough prices yet? |

Yes, please ... more details and a possible release date. I sure would like to start experimenting with one in early January (next week : ) I'd even volunteer to be a Reacher beta tester for Hobie. |

Sorry Jim, but I can't resist... I just can't see Hobie adding an endorsement to their Reacher saying "Tested and approved by CaptnChaos!" |

I'm really, really good at breaking things AND experienced in capsize recovery A great deal for Hobie quality control and yes I would be more than willing to let Hobie use my name on their label BTW Bob, this morning I just finished retrofitting your TI splash guard to fit my 2016 AI and am getting ready to test that out this afternoon. And of course you are welcome use my name on your splash guard endorsement as well |

So, Hobie seams to be ignoring our requests for information and what little they have given (which isn't much) just keeps pushing the release date further out. I get this sinking feeling that the reacher is going to end up like the mythical jib that was promised at one time. Sent from my SPH-L720T using Tapatalk |

Now looking like February release. I will make a serious wager that the reacher sail will be available by Feb 15-19, BECAUSE people will need it in time to practice for the 2016 Everglades Challenge, start Mar 5, 2016. Keith |
