I decided I did not want my AKA to come out even a little bit, (requiring a stop and reconnect), so I took KayakingBob's cross-line idea and added a feature.
I bought a pair of tie-down straps for $15 and cut each in half, I looped the webbing ends tightly around the AKA then punched 3/4" Brass Eyelets through the straps to fix them in place on the tube.
Now when assembled I simply pull the strap tight through the Buckle to secure positive tension. (Can be re-tensioned while under way).
Testing with a friend holding the release buttons and with one foot on the hull and leaning my whole 200Lbs outwards on the AKA I could not move it out more than 1/8 of an Inch before it snapped back into place.
I had no reason to expect this issue to manifest however I am now confident when in deep water the AKA will remain securely in place in the stronger wind and wave.
