Bought new AI and found that one ama is so badly balanced that when lifted with the handle the front of the ama hits the deck ,it is impossible to walk carrying both amas. told by Hobie that it is not a problem, maybe not for them. Checked the weight of both amas and the problem one is heavier. Maybe the extruding machine had a bad day.

I have the exact same issue with my 2016 TI. One ama is extremely unbalanced it is a huge pain walking it to where I setup the boat (and loading it on top of my car). I have banged it literally hundreds of times on the ground because of this manufacturing defect. This is really unacceptable given the cost for a $7k boat.

Mine are that way too. I wonder if you could put some tire sealant in and let it set on one end of the inside of the ama to balance it out. Not sure how well that stuff attaches to plastic.

It's an issue with roto molding. The material thickness is not consistent and over that length it adds up.

Thanks for explaining the problem Matt. Do you have a solution?

Shift your hand forward or aft on the handle to compensate. Use two hands... place a counter balance weight for carrying? Even in a balanced state the amas would be hard to hold level using only the handle in varying wind conditions or with any water in them.
