I held off on the Spinnaker. And had it out a LOT this week end. Sailed further and longer than we ever had in the last 30 years on various boats.

I didn't find it to be that much of a "dog" in down wind at all. Granted we were reaching a lot. You only need to be slightly off straight downwind to fill the sail.
This was in generally light winds too.

Unless we find it severely lacking or just become bored I think we might pass on the Spinnaker. The simplicity of setup right now is great and I don't want to spoil that.

Didn't mind the splashing all that much either. Other boats tends to be the bigger problem with splashing that create large swells/chop.
We probably wouldn't sail in winds that create white caps over a foot or so.

Those new "Surf behind" boats should be outlawed (and I own a true inboard Ski boat). It's just ridiculous the wake those boats put out.
