The Tour features pic in the TI description is now showing handles!
Is this an ‘18 upgrade or a photoshop error?

Looking more closely at that pic the rudder handles appear angled as originally released and not flat mounted as in the latest models.
So I’ll answer my own question - it’s a photoshop error!!! :(

This is an older photo - need to update the site - sorry. There are no side carry handles on the Islands.

As Revo-16 owner, I can confirm that the side handles are BIG deal to me! Our 2019 is missing the 2 pairs that are pictured in the TI version of this pict.

I cannot fathom why Hobie so botched this choice:

A) These are marketed as “the most versatile small watercraft” with use as kayaks, as kayak with ama(s), and as a tri-hulled sail craft that can be single-handed from either seat. These hulls are big and slippery on dry land and like greased watermelons in the water, so good luck to anyone trying to manage them single-handedly without those darn handles. I frequently get to deal with this ungainly 135 pound beast by myself and want my handles back.

B) The handles are a critical life safety element in MOB situations.

C) Ditto for righting the craft in kayak mode.

D) Ditto for riding waves in kayak mode — one hand operates the tiller and the other manages driver and boat balance.

E) I need the side handles to maneuver the hull onto its storage cradles.

F) Ditto for rolling the hull onto its side so can insert the plug-in cart into the scupper holes by myself, and then back upright.

Why?? Are there any positives for this deletion? The on-hull storage for the paddles is also gone, which seems to be Hobie saying “so long kayakers.”

Wow... I have an older model, and didn't realise the side handles were removed from newer models.

How bizarre...
