I have an A.I. that came with a trailex SUT-350ait trailer (pictured) with mounted cradles. I also have a couple other kayaks, and would like to be able to use the trailer for the other kayaks also. Not all at the same time, but if I’m not taking the A.I. it would be nice to still use the trailer to transport whichever kayak I’m taking out that day.

Does the AI need to have the supporting cradles? Or could I just use regular flat carpeted bunks over the trailex crossbars? Any other ideas?

It seems like a lot of work to uninstall/reinstall different cradles onto the crossbars every time I use the trailer for a different kayak.

You could just flip it top side down on the crossbars (a towel or padding in-between) and treat it just like any other kayak. I am in a similar situation and found it much easier hull down on flat bars while transporting multiple kayaks.

If you contact Trailex directly, they can sell you various size crossbars/top racks. I recently purchased a pair of Tandem Island crossbars from them for a slightly wider configuration.
