Folks
Just seen this book on offer on Amazon ebooks. Thought it might be of interest to folks on here. Put fire in yer belly for an adventure!! Its a good read. Couldn't get the link pasted. But you should find it ok.

"When Lars Simonsen lost his job and his house, he chose Plan B and took his family on the longest expedition by Hobie kayak ever attempted, and the longest by kayak with a young family. Lars and his partner Suzi sold their furniture and belongings, took their son Tiuri (7) and daughter Liva (5) out of school and hit the water. The plan – to paddle and sail over 7,000 kilometres from Copenhagen to Istanbul."

They had an awsome adventure! I read about them before I got my TI. Ver inspiring! :)

Check out this guy, Ricky Smith, that is under way on an unbeliveble journey with his TI all the way from north of Europe and has now reached the Canary Islands!! He is sailing solo and has no sponsorshipas far as I know and is running a very low budget.
Very brave guy and he just had bit of an exhausting crossing from Marocco, 3 days on open ocean, over to the Canary Islands in rather light winds. Maybe he is thinking about to pushing on forward to South America but still have not decided to make this big crossing. First he will be crossing from Fuertevertura to Gran Canaria! :)

He has some issues with his TI, aka arms especially. After almost 2 years of sailing/traveling his TI of course has some "ware and tare".
Maybe Hobie could contact him and give him some freebees as a goodwill for his bravery and get his TI into perfect condition?

Anyway I think his encomplishment really is worth mentioning on this forum!
All the best!

Seems to me that new akas (with attachment upgrade)and mainsail would be a modest contribution to assist a splendid effort in demonstrating the awesomeness of the TI. A quick repair of the spinnaker with tape should be easy for him...

The aka cross bars he uses are from the latest versions anyway, I have seen the pics after he cracked the end of the port side on the front crossbar on his crossing over Gibraltar strait. He turned/limped back to Spain and got it replaced Before crossing over to Marocko again! :D Really brave stuff!
