I recall IslandHoppa on this forum came up with an excellent low cost tiller extension/whisker pole. Here: https://www.hobie.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=69&t=36111 I've really liked, and find it necessary, to have a telescoping tiller extension on the other Hobie sailboats I've sailed. They collapsed down to a manageable 12"-18". Has anyone made/found a decent tiller extension/whisker pole these days? I'd buy Hobies stick if it could serve as a whisker too but I'm not really liking the thought of carrying two different accessories onboard and the other end of the paddle sticking in my side while the paddle acts as a whisker pole, like others have done, doesn't work for me. I don't mind steering with the handle downwind (using said tiller/pole combo in whisker mode) as I can reach it when I lay down on the tramp when downwind or I'd sit in the aft cockpit. Thanks! The Shurhold handle system looks like it could work. |
