Planning on sailing the 2018 Texas 200 this year. Any one else interested? We had a nice group of 6 islands sailing with about 60 other boats last year.

Interesting. I haven’t even gotten my boat yet so too early to commit, but this looks cool. I assume it’s more of a cruise than a race, eh? Not sure about camping in Texas in the summer tho... even on the water!

Hi Jay. The camping is not so bad. Nights cool off enough to make it bearable. I would wait till you have at least a year of sailing the island or two under your belt before taking one of these trips o . Lots of things can and do go wrong. Ask me how I know. :D

Count me in! Heading back for my fourth tour of the Texas coast. This is my favorite trip of the year, except for the 1,200 mile drive. Well organized, great group, and WIND! Leave early each morning, use that Hobie speed, and you should be at the campsite by early afternoon before the wind starts howling. Now if I can just figure out how to keep up with the TIs in my AI... Perfect trip for a Hobie.

Awesome Pat! Would't be the same without you there.

Nice camera work Chad. Fun to look back. You never said anything about that snake. You figure we had enough to worry about just making it to Magnolia Beach? :D

Any other takers this year. So far 3 Islands that I know of.

Thanks Greg! I thought I had said something about that snake. As usual for snakes, it seemed to come out of nowhere. I had walked by that spot, then on my way back, there it was.

I haven't completely ruled out the TX200 for this year. I'd like to go, but I'm not crazy about leaving my baby daughter for an entire week. I'll see how things go between now and then and won't probably decide until May.

Yes! Is your friend likely to join us too Jim? You can thank Chadbach for all the emergency numbers and bail locations. (I'm guessing he knew I would need those bail locations) :D

I have another friend that plans to join us too. Beginning to look like we may have 3-5 Islands joining in so far.

Ha, that list is one of those things that you're glad to have but hope to never have to use.

Unfortunately I just don't have the vacations days available to do the 200 this year.

However, I would be interested in taking 2 or 3 days in May to do a shorter portion of the course. If someone else wants to do this either instead of or as preparation for the 200 then let me know and maybe we could work out logistics for a point-to-point course.
