Post subject:  which plastic is used in the mirage drive ?

since i am involved in an already described problem with the drivewell crack and the modification of the "tongue" of the mirage drive. I would like to know of which kind of plastic it's made in case i should try to weld some other plastic on it.
i suppose it's not made with the same PE of the hull

Drives are mostly glass filled nylon parts.

The hull is polyethylene.

Thak u matt. I already googled that also the welding od nylon is not easy. I wonder if maybe glueing can be more succesfull.
At the moment i removed most of the lid in one drive in order to leave the "space" for the plastic that i welded on the hull.
Since this "tongue" is now very thin, i would like to make it "thinker" and more resistent adding some plastic on it or glueing

somebody also suggested me to remove completely the front tongue and let the drive "rock" a little to the back of the drivewell but i dont like this solution since i think that i should then reinforce the rear side of the well. with the only advantage that the rear side can be easily reached from he hatch.

If you removed the front the drive would simply tip forward when pedaling... you need the support up front somehow.

Build a strap of some kind? To reduce the load on the forward ledge?
