Hi@all!

I'm Joerg from Berlin, Germany.
I'm looking for a way to bring a Hobie Tandem Island to Cuba.
I live every year from late October to March near Santiago de Cuba.
I go fishing there almost daily with a kayak.

My kayak, a Scupper Pro from Ocean Kayak, I could take as a sports luggage on the plane.
The weight of under 30 kg accepts the Airline.
The Hobie Tandem is bigger and heavier and will not be accepted as a sports luggage.
I contacted some Hobie dealers and transport companies here in Germany and Florida. Every time after a few back and forth cancellations came.
Slowly I'm running out of ideas.
Last possibilities I have to take a ride on a boat or myself to go by kayak to Cuba.

90 miles should be made in calm weather with an outboard motor.

Can I suggest that there are many cruising catamarans easily capable of carrying a Tandem Island, and there must be some who could be tempted to assist you to get your TI to Cuba, even if only to get most of the journey on their deck. Maybe you could spread the word in cruising forums.

As an aside, I have often thought that a TI equipped with an outboard and tramps, would make an excellent "tender" for a cat, handling ship to shore duties with ease, with the bonus of fun sailing and potential emergency transport. I am surprised I haen't seen it done.

Tony,

My brother just got a cruising cat that I joined him on for the transatlantic. He is getting a pair of AI for tenders and mess around racing.
