Just curious. Can anyone recommend a boat insurance company for our Tandem Islands ? I"m located in Georgia and also sail in Florida. Any opinions ? Mine is a 2014 and I've decided to break it out of my house/car/motocycle/boat insurance provider.

Do most Island sailors even insure their boat ?

thanx,
bill

I've had 4 islands (still have 2) and never insured any of them.

The TI has a built in theft deterrence system, comes from the factory that way.
I just can't imagine two teenagers running down the street with a 250 lb boat on their heads.
Just being funny that's all.

We added our boats to our homeowners insurance, ( I don't recall how much it was extra). We also got a BoatUS membership, (I think it was around $125/yr). If you go offshore, the BoatUS is worthwhile.

Just add it to your home insurance like fusioneng says, if you have home insurance. There is no need for a separate boat insurance policy which will cost much more. My TI insurance, including the trailer, costs only $78/year as a rider via my Travelers Home Insurance policy.
