When will Hobie sell FOILS for the TI

I wish Hobie would make a foiling kit for the TI. There are already lots like this for Lasers: https://foilsz.com/
Stick a foil in each mirage drive well and a foiling rudder on the back and let’s see what the TI can really do!

What do you think guys? Maybe Hobie’s got a skunkworks-like project working on this idea already

Been there and done that with the Hobie Trifoiler. Foils are too dangerous I think. Especially if you are not tucked down in a cockpit. You could get tossed off the boat... so we won't go there again. Even the most modern foiling boats crash hard.

I like my TI just the way it is. You might look into a Windrider Rave if you are interested in a small rotomolded foiling trimaran. Wear a helmet.

Agree with Matt, good image too!

Has anyone else noticed a sudden surge of speed when reaching? I can sometimes
get a lift of 1 to 2 knots and I suspect that it is due to air bubbles sucked into the laminar flow under the main hull. You feel a definite push from the seat and things get a bit ‘wobbly’ -good nautical phrase from Cornwall.

TI configuration to achieve this for me:

My clothed weight 90kgs
Using aft seat
Front and rear drive plugs installed
Both self bailers open
Beam reach, boat speed above 5kts
Small choppy sea

Thinking of installing a simple low-drag hose Venturi from the front drive socket, running across the width of the wetted hull section. However this year I observed a gps speed of 10.6 knots for a few wonderful minutes whilst rounding Lands End so maybe I shouldn’t mess with anything

Not as safe as the TriFoiler though and it was super easy. I just don't think foiling on most boats is safe for the masses.
