All,

Alan, Frank and I met this evening via zoom.

Decided on the following:
- Targeting a short sail this coming Friday April 23, 2021
- Launch Point: Perryville, MD (on the Susquehanna River just above Havre de Grace
- Short sail south to Sand Island and return.
- Total sailing distance ~ 10-12 miles

We are going to confirm work wind and weather and make a go no go decision on Thursday evening.

All are welcome to join the fun.

Post note here if you are interested.

Y'all must be retired. Enjoy the sail. I've had one good shakedown sail in the new AI. Getting the feel for it, but need more experience and gear. Will be ready to join y'all soon I hope. Maybe something further south. Sandy point is a 4 hr drive for me.

Excellent sail last Friday. A bit cool at the start but warmed up to the low 60s by mid day. Hopefully other Island sailors can join in for future sails. Did get a kite up along with the fun sail. Enjoy a few pictures below.

Awesome photos Jim. What camera do you have on the drone...and what drone are you flying. Did you sail alone.

Good sail. Per your questions:
- Drone / camera used: DJI Mini 2

I typically shoot high resolution images from cameras lifted by the kite (Sony A6000).

Click on the images in the prior post to see the full high resolution images on flickr.

Yes, on this (and most) sail.... I was sailing alone.

Hoping for more Island sailors to join for future sails when the weather warms up....

Fun frostbite sail on Chesapeake Bay on 2 December 2021.

Light wind in the morning with a bit more wind in the afternoon.

Water and air temperatures were in the low 50s.

Dry suite recommended! Yes - I take extra precautions on solo frostbite sails..... Gath helmet and face shield .... bit overkill on this sail.

Enjoy a few pictures below taken from the TI, a kite and a drone ;-)

I took delivery of my new TI in October at my home in DE. I trailered it down to SC and have used it a few times here in the tidal rivers. What a blast! The trickiest part is launching off of the ramp when tide & wind are complicating matters.

I would enjoy sailing around Delaware or Maryland with a group when the weather warms up.

Does anyone have photos of aka x-bracing set-ups? After reading some of the cautionary tales of breaking a shear bolt, folding an ama and capsizing, I thought running some lines might be a good precaution.

Thanks.

CMHix,

Welcome to the Hobie Island community.

Certainly can meet up for a sail in late spring when the warmer weather returns.

I routinely sail in Delaware Bay, Chesapeake Bay, Mid Atlantic area on a monthly basis near year-round.

Hi:

Are there any plans for a 2022 event? I've got a TI as well as a Windrider 17.

Thanks

I certainly hope we can pull together one or two sailing events in 2022.

Will be sailing in the Mid Atlantic / Chesapeake Bay / Delaware Bay area April through the rest of 2022.

Currently kicking around the Florida 10,000 Islands with my TI (absolute blast).

Jim
