I'm a taller guy (6'2") and prefer to sail from the back seat of my TI. I've come close to building one of these just to see the difference, but I'm definitely nervous on the potential pressure a strong wind might impart on the joke of fishing rod holders. Having to duck for the line has not over-weighted the risk of a cracked hull for me. I'd love to hear opinions of those who have done this.
Thanks for the link, this is exactly what I had in mind. Yes, I wondered at the difference in aerodynamics or sail noise, it's a shame this video didn't show the sail in use. ISTM the holes should be quite sturdy, if they're supposed to hold a long pole being levered by a fish on the end.
