Sailing a tandem from the front seat can cause steering to be harder. Are you absolutely sure the rudder is not moving up under sailing load?

Thanks Matt, out of the water i locked the rudder as hard as I could...and you are right the rudder is loose. How can I adjust this? I owned a Tandem before and did not have such trouble.
Thanks for looking into this

Maybe the line needs another wrap around the rudder head pulley? Is it hung up on something inside the hull that might give a bit under load? Routed around something odd?

What is the proper fix for this? Does it require a complete control system or are the tubes and O rings replaceable?

You could rotate the tube? Try to limit rudder movement when in the up position? Not sure when that cut/wear happened.

Is there a part number for the plastic tubes that guide the up/down and steering lines to the rudder? 2015 TI. I would like to purchase 4 replacements but have been unsuccessful locating the parts. Thank you

My brother’s TI just had the same problem. It was difficult to steer. But it had nothing to do with sitting in the front seat (which he did not). It took a few hours for us to fix, but here is what we found.

1.If you follow the design of the steering system, there is a wheel that the steering line is guided through. That wheel is above the rudder handle in the front seat.
2. The line can get stuck under the wheel, making the steering line very difficult to use.
3. We had to unscrew the wheel. Then we go the line unstuck from under the wheel. Then we reattached the wheel.
4. It need to be done on both sides. But once we did that it worked like a charm

I hope that helps
