I know freight prices are going up, but that's hard to swallow.

It is all the costs that have gone way up.

Labor is spiking. We can't get people to hire without increasing wages.

All vendor materials are rising rapidly. Aluminum is hard to get and is expensive. Supplies of the plastic powder is being rationed and costs are rising.

Freight-in is insane. A 40 foot container used to cost $3,500 and is now quoted at $19,000 coming from Asia. We are paying for time the ships sit idle outside ports waiting their turn to unload or load.

Unfortunately, we can't maintain current pricing.

Everything is spiking so the price hike is understandable. The actual kayaks are made in USA though, correct? It's supplies in bulk you're getting from China?

I think it's the old "Assembled in US with international components" deal that is typical of most US manufacturing these days. All the subassemblies (drives, seats, rudder assemblies, etc), molding, machining, decals, etc is probably done in China. By doing the final touches in the US, many companies are able to claim they are American made.

We are an international company. The Rotomolded kayaks and sailboats are all molded and assembled here in Oceanside, California. Our factory in France builds all of the fiberglass sailboats. We do all the aluminum here and we build the sails and trampolines here for the US markets. We partnered with Tahee (Used to be BIC) to build the Passports and now Lynx. We partnered with a company in Asia to build inflatable products. We partnered with a company in the Philippines to build Eclipse and many softgoods like cargo mesh and seat fabrics. We have plastic injection vendors here in Californina molding parts. We have a company in LA that does the custom stainless parts. A company in Hong Kong has built a lot of the injected parts, Island Akas, H-Rails etc. We have a company in Taiwan building a lot of the chains and cables for drives and now drives themselves. We have a facility in Mexico assembling things... And we distribute from here in the US, France, Netherlands, Australia and Brazil. Busy Bees.
