What is the best way to load a Hobie Island Adventure Tandem onto a trailer? We have a new Trailex trailer for our Hobie Island Adventure Tandem, if the weight is centered on the Island adventure cradles, it hangs about 4 feet off the back of the end of the trailer, but my wife, who has had boats before with her ex-husband says the boat should be all the way forward to the bow stop, so the boat doesn't slide forward if you stop quickly, but it's the far forward, it's so off balanced that the back of the kayak isn't resting on the back cradle. I don't think it's necessary to worry about the kayak sliding forward since you can run the straps through the holes that got through the kayak and secure them to the trailer; regular boats don't have holes in the middle of the boat. Not to mention, if the kayak is pulled so far forward, there is no support for the front of the boat to the stop. Any suggestions, i can post photos if anyone has questions. |

Move the bow stop back to meet the bow of the boat where you want it placed on the trailer. |

Thank you for your response; once I had the Hobie mounted to the trailer, my Wife took a photo of it and sent it to her Daughter and boyfriend, who are both in the Coast Guard. They could see where my line of thinking where Securing the kayak trailer to center the weight would make sense, but doing so would make the load unnecessarily long. They recommended pushing all the way forward to the bow stop; when I mentioned the load was unbalanced, they recommended either shifting the cradles forward or adding support to the front near the bow stop. unfortunately, I do not know how to post images, but I have before and after photos. I added a Keel Roller Assembly about two feet from the bow stop. This gave the kayak the stability I wanted and shortened the load by about three feet. It only hangs off the back, maybe a foot past the license plate, whereas before, it was about 4 feet. While you boat you have posted is very nice, it tells me nothing about how you have it loaded onto your trailer. |

Sorry to be misleading but the picture is just part of my signature. It wasn't meant to show anything I was describing. In any case, sounds like you made some mods to make it work. |
