| Post subject: | Reversing the tiller operation? |
Hi, I wonder if someone has reversed the tiller operation of the AI? For someone who used to sail a dinghy, the tiller is really working the wrong way. Even after a couple of afternoons I'm still struggling with it. Eventually I would get used to it I guess but I wonder if I then wouldn't be in trouble sailing a dinghy again? |

Switching the lines is fairly simple as they both come down port side of the hull. If you loosen the lines in the back , you can even carefully disconnect from the center hatch and switch them, then adjust the rudder and tighten again. A small mirror can help you seeing how they attach under the "tiller" handle. Kayaking Bob |

Hi Stringy, Glad to see that I'm not the only one struggling with the way the tiller works. Thanks for your suggestion but I think I will go for Bob's suggestion, switching the lines.... After I get recovered from the flu that is. (The weather is still capricious here in Belgium helping the flu finding plenty of victims  )

Hoi Gilbert, during my first launch of the AI this handling irrtated me too. My thinking was that this style of operation would help beginners - where you point the joystick there the boat goes....

I have switched the lines now. Went quite smoothly. I spent half an hour finding out the best why to get the lines through the tubes again. Pushing these out and removing the black plugs was the way I did it. The lines have no stiffness, I needed a fine rod to push these through the tubes again. As Kayaking Bob pointed out, these lines come together in the back just before going into tubes that lead to the rudder. Cheers, Gilbert |

Took my AI out for the first time a couple of days ago. Awesome boat! The tiller drove me crazy, kept going the wrong way. And when you're close hauled, that can be a problem. Glad I'm not the only one with this problem! |
