Post subject:  Hobie Trailer Saddles in Cold Weather?

My AI is transported on a trailer with the Hobie Trailer Saddles.
I have been contemplating hauling the AI down to Florida this winter.

Does anyone know how resistant to the cold are the Trailer Saddles?

I am worried that with temperatures up here (Minnesota) below freezing and down to below zero F...that the saddles may shatter and drop the AI to the ground as I am traveling. The saddles appear to be fibreglas and not very thick.

I wouldn't worry about the cradles losing strength in cold temperatures.

Fiberglass is very resistant to heat, cold and moisture penetration. If it's good enough for window casings and exterior doors, it should be fine for the boat cradles.

The above article states fiberglass is good to -40 degrees F.

Happy Trails!

Post subject:  No problem at -15F

I had to trailer my AI the other day...temperature was -15F...
Crossed my fingers...trailered for five hours and over two hundred
miles. Some of the roads were very rough!
At journeys end, I removed the AI and checked the Hobie trailer
saddles with a light...no visible cracking on the white fibreglas.
I guess my worries were for naught.

As usual, Hobie parts seem to exceed expectations!
