I will be installing the TI cradles on the Trailex Trailer from Hobie, and would like to find out if the TI can be left on the cradles for extended periods of time (say 6 months to a year at a time). Saw this issue in regard to the AI, but want to make sure for the TI, as it is much heavier.

Should be fine. We suggest a bit of support at / near the bow too.

Thanks Matt. That was an incredibly fast reply, and on a Sunday !

Matt, given the spacing on the Trailex trailers, where is the correct placement of a TI and AI on the trailer (cradles)? I currently have the TI so parts of the Mirage drive wells (forward and aft) are resting on the "cradles" area, but the hull could go two feet more forward, but would then rest on un-reinforced hull areas (not near scuppers or drains or Mirage wells). Any "land marks" of the hull that should be over the cradle areas?

AI cradles determine the hulls position. They are formed to specific spots on the hull. I believe the forward one is right under the drive well. The TI cradle position can vary over a wide area as the cradles are more universal fit... the hull and amas are virtually the same shape over a long area. Under scuppers or drive well is best.

Matt - Are there specific cradles designed for the TI? Is there a new trailer (longer) for the TI? I posted these questions in a different post with no replies. I also e-mailed Trailex, but got no reply. Any help would be appreciated. I order my TI a few days ago and need to get the transporting nailed down.

I am also considering the double Hpbie Trailex trailer. If there is not a longer version for the TI, would thee be a problem with the boat hitting the two vehicle in turns due to the extra length of the TI?

Yes, to all the questions.

We have specific cradles shown in the current catalog along with a wider "Double - Double" that can handle two TI or a TI and an AI.

Matt - Thank you. Can you tell me the overall length of the TI+Trailer (both single and double)? I want to make sure they will fit in my garage with the boats on them. Also, what is the width of the double-double?

The catalog my dealer has doesn't have these in them and neither does the catalog on the Hobie website.

Thanks,
Mark

The width of the TI Double is 8 feet, the length loaded will depend on where you load your boat on the trailer (I'm still experimenting).

With my TI on order and needing to get a trailer before it arrives I want to make sure I get a trailer that will meet my needs. With the Hobie Trailex trailer (double), my biggest concerns are length (loaded with the TI) and ground clearance (My driveway has a steep down slope from the street).

My garage can accomodate about 20' of length. I need the TI to fit in my garage when on the trailer.

My driveway looses 4 feet of elevation from the sttreet over about 25' before flattening out. If the TI will drag when entering/exiting my driveway, I will need to raise the boat higher on the Hobie trailer or find a different trailer.

Matt - Can you provide some specs to answer theses questions?

Thanks,
Mark
