Son E Sailor --

Hey, this is wonderful! I've been thinking about buying a TI but had just about decided on an AI instead because I do most of my sailing alone and wasn't sure I could handle the transport to and from the car. You really should think about setting up a cart business! Saw Matt Miller's response; nice to know Hobie is working on something similar...

Anyway, well done! You've crystalized my thinking--a TI is definitely in my future now...

Wavsair,
Thank you very much for your recognition of my wheel cart. It never occurred to me that an offshoot of my idea would result in helping someone finalize their purchasing decision, that's really something! Glad I could be of help.

I enjoy sailing my TI very much and I know you will feel the same when you finally get your own boat. It's a lot of fun, and a great way to get out and enjoy the water.

As far as setting up a "cart business", I'm happy right now to just fill the orders as they come in. I do have a name though, I'm calling it
THE APPEL CART. 8)

Feel free to contact me anytime. If you're still interested, I'll be happy to build one for you.

Sun E I am very impressed with your trailer. This may be a silly question, but will your trailer work (as is) on a solo island?
Presently i have a solo island but plan on a TI puchase (if i still have a job) in the spring of 2012. Thanks, Mark C. In F.W.B.

Mark,
Thank You for your interest, and there's no such thing as a silly question. Sure, you can just as easily use my cart to transport your Adventure Island, in fact it would be even easier to move around because the AI weighs that much less. We might have to install brakes on it though.

You know this name would really pop if you could get the wheeleez folks to make the wheels in red for you!

Red wheels, I like it! But what about those people who prefer Golden Delicious, or Granny Smiths Apples :P ?

Looks like we hammered out the final details today... so, soon.

We typically show our hand on new models etc at the Outdoor Retailer Show. That is next week.

Hope it's not "thread-hijacking" seeing as how my boat is a solo island, but this thread inspired me to build it.
Can't wait to try it at the beach!
THANKS SUN-E.

mcoop57 I dont think that classes as a "thread hijack" its still on the 'theme' and a it looks like it does the job so well done!

I am hoping that the Hobie version will be capable of accommodating the AI or TI and following this quote from Matt will be available soon!

mcoop57,
Nice job. You've got the basic principal designs of the Appel Cart incorporated into your cart: The correct wheels, low to the ground, and lateral support. May I just suggest that you try placing your cart at the bow and pulling it towards you when you load your AI on to your cart; see if that is any easier. Since my original posting video, I have switched to this technique for my TI. For unloading though, I still pull it back towards the stern. Your AI is lighter so it may not make much of a difference. The main thing is that it's working for you, and gets you out to where you want to go. Good job.

For those using Sun E Sailor's cart and attaching it to the trailer for transport: Can you post a picture showing detail for how you attach the cart to the trailer? Thanks in advance.
