I know that the topic "roof carrier" or car topping has already been faced and I tried to read most of the old messages of this forum and elsewhere. Some of them are several years old and there are always new products in the market and not all of them are available in Europe (where I live).
when I search info about a roof carrier for my 2011 Adventure Island I rarely find opinions coming from owner of this kayak.

It would be very helpful tfor me to receive comments about other AI owners that tried the following products:

- malone seawing
- malone saddle up pro
- thule 874
- RUK Rack

thanks in advance

Greetings from Down Under.
Can't help with the commercial roof rack decision as I built my own.
Can vouch for transporting even a TI on the roof for a few years.

Pula Tunisia looks like an interesting place to sail although a little too far from some of the mainland areas.

Good luck with your endeavour.

I use a Thule Slipstream on a Prius and have used this setup for 3 years. Mostly in saltwater environments. The bars have began to rust and bend a bit so I replaced it with another because it is so damn functional. Others may hold up better but this one works great for the car I have. I have an AI1. The AI2 may bend the bars more.

I carry my Adventure Island 2009 on top of my Honda Civic (not as one unit -- with the ama's detatched). I use a standard Yakima roof rack and a pair of "stackers" that let me put the hull on its side with the mast, and the two ama's next to each other with room to spare. I just strap the hull to the stackers and bars and the ama's to the bars. It takes 5 minutes to load it up.

To help me lift the hull onto the car, I use the Yakima "boat loader" accessory, which is basically just a steel bar that slides out from the inside of rack bar about two feet. Then I lift the nose of the hull onto it, then the back end onto the rack. So you never have to lift the full weight of the hull by itself. In fact I even did this while nursing a broken arm a few summers ago (just used one arm). Works great.
