I have a new 2015 ai and am arranging storage. I live in south Florida.
I made a 2x4 stand to keep it off the ground and have a tarp roof over it. I just wanted to see if the way I have the 2x4 on the top rails is sufficient surface area to support the island and that there is enough room under the tarp to protect it. Please see the pics

Are the 2x4 this way sufficient ?

Is the tarp cover good?

Thank you.

Looks good to me. Especially the custom artwork on the wood!

Lol. Ya the kids wanted to help. Lol

Ya. I was worried I may need to add another 2x4 sideways to spread the load out on the rail more. But if you say it's good, I'm all for less work. Haha

I would buy a thermometer and run some testS on a hot sunny day.

I found that brown/silver Home Depot tarp laying directly on the hull raised the temp by 20 degrees - and that was in Pennsylvania on a not-particularly hot day.

OTOH, 10 or 12oz canvas painter's tarp lowered the temp by, IIRC, 20 degrees.

YMMV.

Darker colours absorb more light (therefore heat) than lighter colours (Lighter colours reflect light more - therefore get less hot)

That tarp would be better off being white side "out" to reflect suns rays away better and reduce heat? The same actually applies to car colour - Black cars actually get hotter inside than white cars when sitting in the sun as well (significantly hotter in tests)

Maybe add some pool noodles between the hull and the tarp as spacers?

My tests with brown side out vs silver side out did not show much diff.

As somebody else observed, some air space between tarp an hull might be an important factor.

But I found the most important factor was the type of tarp. Home Depot 10-12 oz canvas being vastly superior to the brown/silver plastic stuff - in that it lowered the temp instead or raising it.
