I found a price-was-right trailer for my 2012 TI. It's 16' long and 4.5' between the fenders. It is originally a galvanized boat trailer which the guy built a deck on to use as a utility trailer. I'll be using it as a utility trailer for a bit too, but then I'll convert it for permanent boat use. It's in good mechanical/electrical shape.
Option 1, leave the decking and maybe the side walls, add a support or two nearer the hitch, and use PVC bunks and a roller to get it on. Pro's, easy, Con's, heavy.
Option 2, strip it down to the boat trailer. Pro's, saves about 300 lbs, lower by 5". Cons, more work, and I'd still have to come up with something clever to support the boat on the frame.
I will be using the trailer to drive the boat to a local park, where I will put the TI on the TI dolly which came with it. I've replaced the dolly wheels with Tractor Supply 12" diameter 1" bore wheels with bearings, so it rolls very nicely. I then dolly it down to a low floating kayak dock.
So I'm leaning towards Option 1, and then I can always go to Option 2 later. What do y'all think?
Thanks,
Brian
