First in Sweden. I know that there are few AI:s in Sweden, but they have not found their way to this thread. How about making it sticky with the Google map link in the first post? :)

Start your arm muscle training now - you'll need it to get the AMA bungees connected to the akas! :o
I cannot believe how tight they are!!
Unless you are setting it up on the ground on grass, you will need to have someone hold everything in place while you spend as long as it takes to wrestle the bungees onto the AMA eyelet posts.
Check for anything loose or not stuck on securely. I discovered one of the up/down labels was half off, the rear carry handle (under the twist n stow rudder when it is in the up position) was hanging on by a thread, the front hatch was missing a bolt that secures the bungee fitting and the rear harken block screw fitting was very loose.
I also had to file the inside of the aka support bar fittings to enable the akas to connect. Now I think I am about ready to take her out for her maiden voyage :)

You would be aware Mickey that the Golden Papaya Rule is that always 'tight is good.' Actually my AI amas tended to pop in and out a bit up front on my red one when the water was sloppy, if I did not take the bungy up to the top fitting. I have not experienced it yet on the new dune model.
Looks like I will have to get you some dum-bells for your arms for your birthday mate....Pirate

Pirate - I have solved the problem in two ways:
1 I left them connected in the folded in position overnight after taking her out.
2 I have just added a couple of cable ties that I can loop my fingers through - much better :D

Do you know anyone who wants to buy a 2011 AI  :P

You better keep it yourself Mickey in case you want to go sailing with us when the wind gets up a bit and when the TI just won't be capable of handling the conditions. That is why they call the AI an 'adventure' island, while the TI is a 'tandem' island was so called for being able to talk to someone as it's sooo boring!!!!...LOL...Pirate

I enjoyed my first (solo) sail ihe the front seat of the TI so much, I expect the AI will be untouched for a very long time - might end up a collectors item  I have so many options to try yet. Next will be sailing solo from back seat, then adding crew etc.
She'll make a great expedition craft - much more freeboard and deeper hull provides lots of storage. Doesn't suffer from water entry into cockpit via the new carry handles.
Very responsive and graceful :D

I am very glad you are enjoying it mate, and I agree that it is most fitting for a retired Officer to have the largest kayak. It would be good being out there now in all that wind but unfortunately I am surrounded by paperwork...Pirate

To get this forum back on track - posted my location in South Australia. Have started an alias for email contact so if anyone tries denial of service I can shut it down. The Hobie Kayaks are selling well here, plenty of sheltered waters, islands, lakes and one river but the owners haven't registered. Will have to talk to the Dealer.
